RAL Space is the UK’s national laboratory advancing the exploration of space and our environment for the benefit of all. RAL Space has over 50 years of experience and expertise in space programmes. Our experts work throughout the lifecycle of space missions. From leading concept studies for future missions; developing bespoke, innovative scientific instrumentation; providing space test and ground-based facilities; operating ground-stations to processing and analysing data.
It works with UK and overseas agencies, universities and industrial companies on space and ground based space projects. Its unique position between industry and academia enables it to strengthen the UK space community. RAL Space does this through:

TRANSSITioN is led by RAL Space, which will utilise its expertise in thermal modelling and insulation of satellites to make engineering measurements of thermal and (solar) radiative properties, assess best combination of indigenous low tech and high-tech solutions and explore development of prototype for innovative insulation system.
